Bouctouche boxer to battle American

Shediac Fight Fest II scheduled for Sept. 17

The Bouctouche heavyweight will take on American Matt Anderson Sept. 17 in Shediac's Festival Arena. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the eight-bout card starting at 7 p.m.

Collette, a knockout specialist, steps into the ring with a 7-1 professional record and five knockouts under his belt.

However, Anderson of Minnesota will be ready for Collete's power, after squaring off against some of the better heavyweights in North America. The veteran sports a 6-5-1 record.

"This is a big step up for Julien," said Dwayne Storey, New Generation Boxing promoter, said.

"He wanted a bigger challenge from someone who's been in the game for a while. I think this fight is necessary for him to evolve as a fighter. In order to get to higher levels, you have to fight guys on the next level up."

Also stepping back into the ring are local favourites Jonah Arbuckle of Moncton and former Quebec Major Junior Hockey League enforcer Kevin Cormier of Cap-Pelé.

Cormier is back for the second after knocking out Jeff Lundberg in the first round of his professional debut during the first Fight Fest. This time around, Cormier will face Danny Savoie of Dalhousie.

Arbuckle, coming off well-executed victory in Fight Fest I, will also challenge an American fighter in John Hoffman of St. Paul, Minn.

Arbuckle, now sporting a 6-2 record, is only a few wins away from a shot at the Canadian Boxing Federation Super Middleweight title.

Here are the other fights:

  • Emile Arsenault of Shediac vs. Todd Henry of Moncton
  • Patrick Arsenault of Shediac vs. Jason Bernava of Moncton
